University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Receives LCS Foundation Scholarship

May 20, 2024
LCS Foundation scholarships help support and develop future senior living industry leaders.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire announced Brad Heap as the recipient of the 2024 LCS Foundation University Scholarship during its annual Center for Health Administration and Aging Services Excellence banquet. Heap is a junior pursuing a major in healthcare administration with a minor in American Sign Language.

“Being awarded this scholarship means more than I can even say,” said Heap. “This scholarship stands out to me not only as an acknowledgement of my accomplishments and passion for the field of long-term care, but also hope for the future to be working in an industry with such great supporting communities.”

The personal connections Brad made during his collegiate journey fueled his interest in senior living. “Senior living has become a passion of mine during my undergraduate studies through the community and connections I have made,” he said. “Being able to make real, personal connections with people of all backgrounds is what truly fulfills me.”

Brad added he is grateful for the support of his professors in the Health Care Administration department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, particularly from Dr. Lindsey Creapeau, Professor Natalie McMurry, Dr. Frances Hawes and Dr. Jennifer Johs-Artisensi. “This program would not be what it is today without the immense contributions from these four amazing individuals,” Heap said. “They bring such joy and life into the long-term care industry."

Upon graduation, Heap hopes to work as a long-term care administrator, preferably at a continuing care retirement community.

The LCS Foundation established a strong partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to support the continued education of students pursuing degrees in the senior living industry. Through the program, university scholarships are awarded annually. Recipients are chosen by the UW-EC Scholarship Selection Committee guided by principles endorsed by the LCS Foundation. Other schools where LCS Foundation scholarships are in place include Northwood University, the University of Northern Iowa, and the Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living at Washington State University.
